Inspiration: Graphic Goodness from David Marinos

Tonight was one of those bored, idle nights where you sit and listen to music and tweet and tumble and partake in many other modern-day-lazy-teen activities. Then out of nowhere, David Marinos appears on my screen; He's a graphic artist, with the same amount of years to his name as myself. When I saw his work, I simply asked: How? How can one person be so utterly talented from such a young age?

I am completely in love with his work; I think the combinations of images, colours, textures, everything is flawless. Marino's work is, in essence, everything I could ever ask for in an artist: His style of art fits my tastes like a glove. This guy is gonna go far!

As if he hasn't come far enough already, he's studied in America, Europe, won Best Young Artist of 2012, and has his own clothing line. I feel a little inadequate.. What on earth am I doing with my life? I'd better start getting my act together... Let me just reblog one last picture on Tumblr. Or fifty.

Inspo: DMDs (Deep Meaningful Doodles)

For approximately the fiftieth time, I came across something on Tumblr (queue a unanimous groan) that I want to share with you all - Before I discuss it, I just want to urge all those in need of some inspiration, laughs, anything to make a Tumblr - Even if you don't want to post anything, it's a great way to see art, fashion, news, whatever you're into. However, do so at your own risk: It's an addictive hobby, if that's what you could call it.

Anyway, my latest artsy obsession is these wonderfully weird doodles: Some are rather simplistic in form and look a child's drawing/anime hybrid, whilst others resemble some tripped out henna designs. The sketches are often accompanied with a small piece of text: I've found in a lot of cases that this text is really simple and perhaps a little petty or immature, but paired with such strange and abstract drawings, they give off a feeling of vulnerability and/or deepness- or is it just me?I don't know, I may just be reading into things a little too much.  

For a while I had no idea who was doing these drawings, although I very well wished I did. Only last night did I find a Facebook link to one particular creator of these incredible drawings: Her name is Beverly Salas, and I was delighted to find even more of her work on her page. I think it's fair to say that I'm in love with her work, and that she deserves a whole lot more recognition for her wonderful talent! I envy anyone with such talent to draw and draw a full page of flawless trippiness in such detail - whenever I try, it turns to a lopsided  mess and I run out of ideas of what to draw next. Kudos!

Class Desktops by Alan Keane @ LGA

 I also saw something similar to this drawing style at Limerick Gallery of Art: The piece was called 'Class Desktops' by Alan Keane, and it was essentially that: four old desktops, adorned with graffiti that was both immature and hilarious, but also incredibly meaningful to think about what all of these different students had been thinking and going through when scribbling on the desks, as well as where they may be now. It really stood out to me in such a big gallery, full to the brim with interesting pieces; I have never seen anything like it in my life.

Inspo: Gaga 4.0

Whenever Lady Gaga comes out with a new album, she always surfaces on my Tumblr dashboard with her new style/hair/makeup and I always end up asking myself: "How can one woman be so impeccably stylish? And how can she manage to hit the zeitgeist-nail on the head whilst also adding her own trademark twist, and still always completely pull it off?" Every single time.

In her latest return with her fourth album ARTPOP, she's mainly been seen sporting a rather bare, glowing face; golden, big and bouncing bombshell hair and a tiny septum piercing that I can only vow to have by the age of 21. I can dream..Clothing is just as simplified and casual, but still completely has 'Gaga' written all over it: The picture on the far left above is a perhaps one of my favourite examples of da queen in casual. She's also been using a lot of the past for inspiration: Her seashell underwear in relatively recent music video 'Applause' evidently references Venus; other Gaga getups have reminded me a lot of the likes of Madonna, e.g. the centre image above. There's definitely something very iconic about whatever is being translated here, that's for sure! 

The new, fresh-faced ARTPOP era of Lady Gaga is my favourite so far; Yet I've said something similar to that every time she's returned to the public eye. Gaga has always been a big style inspiration to me, and that's certainly not about to stop - I think I'll be needing some bronzer and volumising extensions.. Maybe seashells. What do you think?

Hairspo

Hair isn't an area of high expertise for me, as I currently in short supply of it - If you'll pardon the pun. But, I sure do like to look at other people's hair, in sheer envy. I love to look at what hair stylists have managed to create on the runway, and their works of art will never fail to amaze me. Above are some styles I really love, and would replicate on my own hair in a heartbeat, if I had the skills. And if it were acceptable in society to wear 1,000 pins in your hair at once.
